We continue to engage with the fight for Palestinian freedom by turning to the words of Palestinian writers themselves. Nowhere can we find more powerful expressions of resistance and the will to endure. We join the Publishers for Palestine coalition for the second year ofRead Palestine Week (November 29 to December 5, 2024). Gather online with us to read, think, grieve, take solace and take action. Find inspiration in literature and poetry.

We will gather to talk about two powerful works: Isabella Hammad's Recognizing The Stranger: On Palestine and Narrative and And Still We Write, a chapbook featuring Palestinian writers in and from Gaza.

About the books:
Recognizing The Stranger: On Palestine and Narrativeby Isabella Hammad
Nine days before October 7, 2023, award-winning author Isabella Hammad delivered the Edward W. Said Memorial Lecture at Columbia University. The text of Hammad’s speech and her afterword, written in the early weeks of 2024, together make up a searing appraisal of the war on Palestine during what seems a turning point in the narrative of human history. Profound and moving, Hammad writes from within the moment, shedding light on the Palestinian struggle for freedom. The book is widely availablehere.

And Still We Write,a chapbook by ArabLit. Download it here.
Palestinian writers in and from Gaza imagine a future. Recollections of this past year, reflections on where they are now, and thoughts about where they might be tomorrow all come together in this small chapbook. Featuring writers, poets and translators Nasser Rabah, Batool Abu Akleen, Heba Al-Agha, Asmaa Dwimah, Samer Abu Hawwash, Huda Fakhreddine and Wiam El-Tamami, among others.
