Too much of ‘journalism’ — from both right-wing and left-wing news media — is motivated more by a paycheck and publication (‘a buck and a byline’) rather than a genuine strive to challenge the big and bad powers that be: To truly comfort the afflicted while afflicting the comfortable in an increasingly unjust global existence. Mainstream news-media have been editorially emasculated thus negligent, however much it may be due to orders from ownership headquarters and therefore beyond their control.

Such journalism’s traditional function may also be subtly changing. The adage-description of journalism’s fundamental function can remain the same, but revision of terminological representation is definitely in order. While it remains “comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable,” there may be an alteration to what/who constitutes an “afflicted” and “the comfortable”.

As a good contemporary example, the new “afflicted” requiring news-media comforting includes the Israeli government and IDF in their systematic mass starvation and/or largescale slaughter of Gazan innocents when in the past it would've been more likely (and rightly) the Palestinian civilians or non-combatants, as the latter resist having their ancestral lands gradually annexed and being cleansed from it [perhaps like a new David versus Goliath?].

Also, over decades I’ve heard of too many cases of employees not standing up and doing what is necessary for the public and/or human(e) good, instead excusing themselves with something like: ‘I need this job — I have a family to support’. I have to say that such familial obligation status does not actually ethically or morally justify their willing involvement — unless, of course, they were actually forced into coupling and copulating with intent to procreate.

Quite frankly, journalists/editors with genuine integrity should tender their resignations and even publicly proclaim they can no longer help propagate their employer’s media product, whether it involves self-censored or missing coverage of a brutally lopsided foreign war or that of domestic corporate corruption that will harm the populace.

Instead, the MSM's distortion and diversion continues. ... What astonishes me, though, is how such news-media professionals can afterwards sleep at night or look their little children/grandchildren in the face everyday?!

Bravo! The above essay challenges all reporters and editors. How can it be that genocide has been so concealed by the establishment news media? Has AI already proven to be another layer of lies suffocating humanity?

After thirty-one months of intensified genocide, little time remains to rescue the remaining population of Gaza, the rest of Palestine, and Lebanon.

And our once-admired USA! What a catastrophic collapse. We must be doomed; how could we ever recover our productive, humane Republic, having inflicted so much destruction as the U.S./Israeli empire? How can recovery be possible? Instead, aren’t we facing disastrous blowback?

Epstein was preceded by Hefner. Zionist destruction of the American republic has been underway since before the murder of JFK.

P.S. I now feel I’m wrong in my original post’s statement: “As a good contemporary example, the new ‘afflicted’ requiring news-media comforting includes the Israeli government and IDF in their systematic mass starvation and/or largescale slaughter of Gazan innocents when in the past it would've been more likely (and rightly) the Palestinian civilians or non-combatants, as the latter resist having their ancestral lands gradually annexed and being cleansed from it [perhaps like a new David versus Goliath?].”

I don’t actually recall Palestinians ever being fairly, humanely treated/covered by mainstream media in the past. If anything, it was even worse, due to virtual complete control of information. Particularly through entertainment and news media, they were usually simply associated with terrorism via suicide bombing or plane hijacking.

dulent, bastardized version of genuine Christianity.

There is an expression I've come across in alternative and social media: "God damn America!" America, and perhaps Britain, may be well on its/their way to being damned — never mind it/they somehow being God-blessed or the monarchy saved by Him. The Biblical Jesus Christ definitely would not approve of the almost systematic morbid greed and poverty rampant in “God's Own Country” — let alone the morbid atrocities it's committing or enabling internationally.

Many ‘Christians’ personally do not morally support Israel’s ethnic cleansing, mass murder and starvation of Palestinian non-combatants, especially since most of the victims are children. However, too many of them (‘Christians’) believe/feel that by vocalizing, perhaps even towards the heavens, that they do unconditionally support the Biblical God’s people or Israelites, they’ll somehow be on the ‘right side’ of God come Judgement Day, etcetera.

It seems to me that America is well on its way to being damned — never mind it somehow being God-blessed. And too many institutional 'Christians' seem to create their Creator’s nature in their own fallible and often angry, vengeful image.

Really, if the Divine is as vengefully angry, even seemingly blood-thirsty, as institutional Christianity generally portrays Him to be, is anyone — including supposed ardent followers or conservative Bible believers — truly safe or really ‘saved’? One could reasonably theorize that He’d be especially peeved by those self-professed Christians He’d (likely rightfully) deem as fake or frauds.

After all, Jesus, as God incarnate, was about non-violence, genuine compassion, love, charity and non-wealth. His teachings and practices epitomize so much of the primary component of socialism — do not hoard gratuitous wealth in the midst of great poverty.

Yet, they are not practiced by a significant number of ‘Christians’, likely including many who idolize callous politicians standing for very little or nothing Jesus taught and represents. The Biblical Jesus would not have rolled his eyes and sighed: ‘Oh, well. I’m against what the politician stands for, but what can you do when you dislike even more his political competition?’

Seriously, some of the best humanitarians that I, as a big fan of Christ’s miracles and fundamental message, have met or heard about were/are atheists or agnostics who, quite ironically, would make better examples of many of Christ’s teachings/practices than too many ‘Christians’. Conversely, some of the worst human(e) beings I’ve met or heard about are the most devout believers/preachers of fundamental Biblical theology.
